Can I enter a decimal MB target?
Yes. Values such as 1.5 MB are converted through the shared binary unit helper, subject to the supported validation range. The field starts empty, so you decide the target from the actual requirement of your upload or sharing task.
Is the output guaranteed to be exactly my MB value?
No. The entered amount is a ceiling, and a valid encoded result can be smaller. If browser encoding or format constraints prevent the tool from getting under the ceiling, it returns the smallest result found and does not claim success.
When will dimensions be reduced?
JPG and WebP keep the current resolution whenever quality from 40 to 100 can satisfy the MB target. Only when quality 40 is still too large does the compressor scale both dimensions and repeat the quality search.
How does MB convert to KB and bytes?
ResizeBento uses binary units: one MB is 1,024 KB, and one KB is 1,024 bytes. Unit switching changes how the target is displayed while the processing job continues to use one consistent byte value behind the control.
Should I export a large photo as JPG or WebP?
JPG is widely compatible for photographs, while WebP can provide efficient files for modern browser and web use. Both support the quality search. Choose the format accepted by your destination and compare the resulting detail.
How does PNG transparency affect the target?
PNG preserves transparency and uses lossless encoding, which can keep detailed files larger than JPG or WebP. Its existing Target Size process may reduce dimensions to approach your MB ceiling without applying a lossy quality value.
Are large images processed locally?
Yes. Decoding, quality searches, resizing, encoding, and workspace storage happen in your browser. The tool does not send the selected image to a remote compression service, although your device still needs enough local resources.
What if even the smallest attempt is over the target?
Processing stops after the defined quality and dimension attempts or at the minimum dimensions. The smallest valid result is returned as best effort, so an unusual source cannot cause an infinite loop or a false target-reached state.
