Is a WhatsApp DP different from a profile picture?

Does WhatsApp require exactly 800x800 pixels?
This canvas is the site default selected for this template, rather than a verified mandatory upload size. The width and height are editable. Check the profile controls in your version of WhatsApp before applying the image.
Do you create a transparent circular image?
The circle in the illustration is only a display guide. The output remains a rectangular pixel canvas. You can preserve transparency already present in a source with a suitable output format, but this page does not cut a circular alpha mask.
How can I keep the whole photograph?
Use the editor’s padding option when a square crop would remove important content. Padding fits the source within the chosen canvas. The subject may look smaller, so compare that result with a closer crop before you decide.
Will a larger profile picture recover lost detail?
Increasing the pixel count cannot recover sharp eyes, hair, or lettering that the original does not contain. Prefer the full-resolution source and inspect the result at a useful preview size instead of relying on the canvas dimensions alone.
Which output format should I choose for a portrait?
JPG is a practical option for a photograph. PNG preserves existing transparent areas, and WebP is also available. Quality applies to JPG and WebP; it does not control PNG encoding in the same way.
